VONOG means "hawk" or "falcon" in Latgalian language. Stan's last name is Vonog as his grandfather hailed from the heart of Latgale, a region in Eastern Latvia sometimes referred to as "the Land of Blue Lakes".
Stan was born on May 4, 1983 in Konotop, a small town in the north-east of Ukraine. He received his B.S. and M.S. with honors in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, "the Russian MIT".
In 2005 Stan Vonog won the title of the World Champion in software design in Microsoft's Imagine Cup, the largest student technology competition in the world, and his team received an unofficial title of "Technology Rock Stars" at the award ceremony in Yokohama, Japan.
In 2004 Stan won the 2nd prize in Software Design in the Imagine Cup 2004 World Finals in Brazil . In 2006 he led Team Russia to top12 in Software Design category as the team's mentor and coach together with Nick Surin.
In 2006 Stan Vonog co-founded Musigy. The company enabled Jazz at the Speed of Light the world's first distributed jazz festival with world's jazz stars, 5 venues and 10000 spectators across 3 countries.

Musigy has received a number of awards for innovation. In particular it was recognized among the top 3 Russian hi-tech startups as Stan presented the company to Bill Gates at a special event (russian link) during Microsoft Founder and Chairman's one-day visit to Russia in November 2006.

The company has received extensive coverage in print magazines and newspapers worldwide (see an article in IEEE Spectrum Magazine) and on top TV channles in Japan, UK, Ukraine and Russia (NHK - the #1 TV channel in Japan).
